A woman died in a hospital after she was hit by a car while riding her bicycle in Fort Lauderdale on Thursday morning, police said.

The driver of the car did not stop to help the woman, police said.

The incident happened around 6:40 a.m. on the Southeast 17th Street Causeway Bridge, said Casey Liening, a police spokeswoman.

Paramedics took the woman, who has not been named, to Broward Health Medical Center, where she died, Liening said.

Traffic-homicide detectives are investigating what police say is a hit-and-run. Police have not released a description of the car other than it is “dark in color.”

Police ask anyone with information to call 954-764-4357.
