A man was injured after an officer-involved shooting Sunday on Biscayne Boulevard near Miami Shores village limits, according to officials. It involved two bladed weapons.

Miami Shores Police Chief David Golt said a man was carrying two bladed weapons, causing a disturbance around 2 p.m. Sunday inside Tropical Chevrolet, a car dealership at 8880 Biscayne Blvd., when an employee called police.

Golt said the man left the dealership before police could arrive and walked down the street near the intersection of Northeast 86th Street and Biscayne Boulevard. After police arrived and approached him, an officer shot him, a news release said.

While several social media posts on X, allege the man was holding a machete, Golt declined to comment on the type of weapons involved.

After the shooting, there were at least two blocks roped off with crime scene tape in front of the Antiques & Design Mall nearby. Yellow evidence markers were propped up beside a pair of broken, black sunglasses on the ground along with a black backpack and what appeared to be some sort of blade.

Daisy Vazquez, 67, lives nearby and said she was going to a store to get Splenda when she heard shots. Vazquez abandoned her black bike on the corner next to Pinch Kitchen + Bar and said she saw a man lying on the ground across the street with blood staining his white T-shirt as people crowded around him.

“All I heard was ‘bang, bang, bang,’” Vazquez said.
