Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested a Homestead woman for the second time this year for allegedly stealing and selling thousands of dollars worth of jewelry from elderly people she worked for.

Jacqueline Denise Robinson, 58, was arrested Thursday following an investigation into financial exploitation involving elderly victims.

According to an MDSO news release, Robinson was employed as a caregiver for several elderly people and stole about $56,000 worth of their jewelry to sell.

She was also arrested in February after being accused of stealing a $1,000 bracelet from a woman she was caring for in Cutler Bay.

When questioned, officers stated she said she found the bracelet while cleaning but had planned to put it back. The woman’s daughter showed investigators video footage showing Robinson rifling through the woman’s drawers, selecting items and hiding them on her body.

She faces a felony charge of grand theft regarding that incident and had a scheduled trial date on June 29.

Her attorney, Carlos Gonzalez, expects that trial date to be changed to add the new charges, which include elderly exploitation, dealing in stolen property and claiming false ownership to a pawnbroker.

He said he will not represent her on the new charges, but will try to continue to represent her on the February charge.

She is being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on bonds totaling $180,000, jail records show.
