Miami-Dade teacher jailed for relationship with 17-year-old student: deputies
A Miami-Dade County teacher has been jailed on charges of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old student, according to the sheriff’s office.
Michael J. Enriquez taught science at American Senior High School, 18350 NW 67th Avenue, when at the end of the 2025 school year in May he began to have “personal conversations, which became sexual in nature,” with a student, according to his arrest affidavit.
Enriquez began to hold her hand, hug her, grab her waist and make comments about her body, deputies say.
Eventually, Enriquez invited her to go eat with him after school. He bought some food and then took the teen in his truck to a nearby shopping plaza, parked and began to sexually touch the teen girl.
During the summer break, the girl and Enriquez did not have any contact, but things started to pick back up when the school year restarted, according to his arrest affidavit.
Their last sexual encounter was on May 14 at Enriquez’s home, police say.
Enriquez was taken into custody on Monday and charged with unlawful sex acts with a specified minor, lewd and lascivious touching of certain minors and offenses against students by authority figures. He remains jailed at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Tuesday and has a bond status of “to be set.”
