Hollywood police officer injured after BMW crosses A1A median. Driver runs away

A Hollywood Police officer was hospitalized early Wednesday morning after a car slammed into his patrol vehicle, authorities say.

Just after midnight, the officer was driving down A1A near Hollywood Boulevard when a driver in a BMW going the opposite direction crossed the median, striking the officer’s car, Deanna Bettineschi, the Hollywood Police Department’s spokesperson wrote in an email to the Miami Herald.

The driver of the BMW took off running. The officer was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening injuries, Bettineschi added.

Police have yet to find the driver of the BMW.
