15 arrested in Miami-Dade State Attorney’s Office human-trafficking sting
A human-trafficking task force led by the Miami-Dade County State Attorney’s Office announced the arrests of 15 people who thought they were paying money to have sex with minors, prosecutors said Friday.
In what prosecutors are dubbing “Operation Wrong Turn,” all 15 defendants are being held without bond on charges of human trafficking, prohibited use of a computer and traveling to meet minors, the office said in a press release.
The task force — which includes members of other South Florida law-enforcement agencies, along with federal U.S. Homeland Security Investigations agents — operates similar stings in preparation for big events, such as the Super Bowl, Formula 1 race and the FIFA World Cup, the office said.
In this operation, detectives placed advertisements offering sex and had text and phone conversations with people who responded, according to the press release.
The people “were explicitly informed that the advertised individuals were underage females,” the office said.
Once a price was settled, the people were directed to a predetermined location in the city of Miami and met with undercover officers posing as pimps, who told them where to meet the girls, according to the press release. But, instead of the minors, tactical officers met them and placed them under arrest.
The people arrested are:
- Carlos Adrian Flores Rojas, 27
- Edgar Arturo Donaire, 38
- Jacinto Brito Raymonudo, 23
- Jony Zele Donrizo, 33
- Kalaivanan Murugan, 25
- Mandy Gonzalez, 39
- Miles Simyon, 22
- Creshawn Lewis Starks, 24
- Frank Lopez de la Rosa, 24
- Jonathon Testa, 25
- Josue Castanon, 20
- A person listed in the press release as K.G., who is 16
- Marvin Torres, 37
- Osinel Gonzalez, 25
- Roberto Guido Rojas, 39
The office asks anyone with information about human trafficking to call its 24-hour Human Trafficking Hotline at 305-349-7867 (305-FIX-STOP).
