A Miami-Dade County Public Schools teacher is facing termination after being arrested Friday on five charges including battery and offense against students by authority figures, court records show.

Rudolph Infante, 53, is a teacher at Miami Southridge Senior High School.

Miami-Dade Schools Police Department began an investigation upon learning about “this suspected behavior,” and Infante was arrested, school district spokesperson Elmo Lugo said in a statement.

Miami-Dade County Public Schools is disturbed by the allegations against Infante, and the district has initiated termination proceedings and will ensure he’s precluded from seeking future employment with the district, Lugo said.

“This type of behavior will not be tolerated as it runs contrary to the professional conduct we expect from all employees,” he said.

Infante’s arrest affidavit, which details the case, was not available Sunday. He was being held on a $14,000 bond at the Miami-Dade Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, jail records show.

His public defender, Anton Fetkulov, and the state’s largest teachers union, United Teachers of Dade, did not immediately respond Sunday to a request for comment.
