A fight between two women outside a South Miami-Dade gas station in early March ended with one shot dead and the other jailed on Tuesday, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

On March 1, deputies responded to a shooting at the Sunoco Gas station at 12701 SW 268th St. They found 42-year-old Latrosha Williams on the ground with gunshot wounds. She was taken to Jackson South Medical Center, where she died, deputies say.

Surveillance footage shows Williams approaching Angel Heyward, 27, as she parked a gold Cadillac sedan in a spot, according to an arrest affidavit. The two then started arguing in the parking lot.

Police say Heyward then pulled a gun from her purse. A witness persuaded her to go inside the store and put the gun away while Williams remained outside, gesturing for Heyward to come out and fight.

Deputies wrote that Heyward “maintained visual contact with the victim and, on several occasions, taunted the victim by blowing kisses and gesturing her middle finger.” Williams was unarmed, according to the report.

Moments later, Heyward exited the store and walked toward her car as Williams approached with clenched fists. Heyward pulled her gun again, and when she reached her car, Williams swung at her, grazing the top of her head, according to the arrest report. The two struggled, and Heyward fired twice, according to the sheriff’s office. Williams collapsed next to Heyward’s vehicle.

After the shooting, Heyward dropped the gun — accidentally shooting herself in the right foot while bending down to pick it up — then walked to the back of the car and removed the license plate, placed it inside, and sped off, deputies say. She later arrived at Homestead Hospital.

She was taken to MDSO’s Homicide Bureau for an interview after she was discharged from the hospital.

Heyward is charged with manslaughter and is being held on no bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Wednesday, jail records show.
