2-year-old attacked by dogs is moved to Jackson due to injuries’ ‘seriousness’
A 2-year-old boy was hospitalized after being attacked by his family’s two pit bull terrier dogs in their Miami Gardens backyard Tuesday night, police said.
The toddler was bitten in the face by the dogs behind his home in the 3600 block of Northwest 191st Street, according to police.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue airlifted the boy to Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital in Hollywood around 7 p.m. He was later transferred to Jackson Memorial Hospital due to the “seriousness of the injuries,” police said Wednesday.
His parents surrendered the dogs to Miami-Dade Animal Services, which said the animals have been euthanized.
This is not the first time a dog attack has happened in Miami Gardens. In September, Doreen Richards Broadbelt, 71, was mauled to death by a dog while she walked to her job at a Walmart.
