Keys deputy accused of misusing agency databases to look up personal information
The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office arrested one of its deputies Tuesday on charges he misused the Florida Keys agency’s computer databases for non-work-related purposes.
Lamar Eliseo Roman, 28, was also fired, Sheriff Rick Ramsay said in a statement.
“I am committed to keeping this community informed of significant events that occur in this agency — good and bad,” Ramsay said.
The sheriff’s office hired Roman in May 2025, agency spokesman Adam Linhardt said. His annual salary was $74,474, Linhardt said.
The Miami Herald requested the arrest report for more details, but the sheriff’s office said in a media release that Roman was using agency databases “to look up information for personal reasons beyond the legal scope of his employment as a deputy.”
As of Tuesday afternoon, he was held in county jail on Stock Island on a charge of misuse of law enforcement computers, computer networks and electronic devices, Linhardt said. A judge had not yet set bond.
Information about his legal representation was not immediately available.
