A Parkland man is accused of stalking his ex-girlfriend through texts, phone calls, placing an electronic tracking device in her vehicle and sending her letters in an envelope that contained a 9 mm bullet, the Broward Sheriff’s Office says.

Jakir Hasan, 23, and the woman, whose name was redacted in his arrest report, dated for about two years, but broke up about eight or nine months ago, detectives say.

Around six months ago, he began calling her, texting her and sending her handwritten letters trying to convince her to get back together, according to the arrest paperwork.

On Tuesday, the woman found an Apple tracking device in her car, detectives say. She was contacted by Apple about the device and then set her phone to make a noise to alert her when the device was nearby. That’s when she located it, according to the report.

Earlier this month, the woman’s brother found an envelope in the family’s driveway. It contained two long letters and one shorter letter. It also contained the bullet, detectives say.

The woman told detectives that Hasan had recently texted her with threats that he would shoot the man she has been dating since the couple’s breakup, according to the report.

Hasan met with detectives this week and admitted to writing the letters, placing the tracking device in the woman’s car and sending her the bullet.

He was booked into Broward County jail Wednesday on one count of aggravated stalking and a count of installing a tracking device without consent. As of Friday, Hasan remained in jail on a total bond of $10,000. Information on his legal representation was not listed in court records.
