Miami-Dade murderer, who got pregnant in jail, beat inmate, sheriff’s office says
A woman who murdered her husband and made national headlines for getting pregnant in a Miami-Dade County jail has been accused of attacking an inmate — for the fifth time, court records show.
Daisy Link, 30, was convicted of second-degree murder in October for shooting Pedro Jimenez, 33, outside her Homestead residence in June 2022.
While incarcerated for killing him, she became pregnant in 2023 with a daughter, who was conceived with inmate Joan DePaz. She inseminated herself with DePaz’s sperm after he passed it through an air vent in the Miami-Dade Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
On Monday afternoon, Link entered a woman’s jail cell and started to punch her in the face, according to an arrest affidavit.
The woman told a correctional officer she was “punched in the face and head at least 15 times,” but she was unsure why she was attacked.
She sustained a minor injury to her upper lip and a scratch on her nose, the affidavit said. The victim was only identified by her last name, Gupta.
Link is facing one count of battery by a detainee on another detainee.
It’s at least the fifth time that Link has been accused of battery by a detainee on a visitor or other detainee since March 2023, according to Miami-Dade court records.
Of the four other cases, one is pending, and three were “no action.”
The Miami-Dade Public Defender’s Office is representing Link. General Counsel Guy David Robinson said Tuesday the office had “no comment at this time.”
