Man tried to kick, punch and headbutt deputy, Monroe County Sheriff’s Office says
A Marathon man who was intoxicated and unconscious out front of a bar Saturday night was arrested after kicking and punching at a deputy, according to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
At around 9 p.m., Monroe County deputies found Donald Philip Parkinson in the road in front of Brass Monkey bar at U.S. 1 and Sombrero Beach Road, the sheriff’s office said in a statement.
“A manager at the business wished to have Parkinson trespassed from the property,” the sheriff’s office said.
When Parkinson woke up, he allegedly started yelling and cursing, saying he was going to fight deputies.
Parkinson, 54, couldn’t walk without help and refused to enter a patrol vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
He was taken to Fisherman’s Community Hospital where he continued to yell, resist and attempted to headbutt a deputy.
“Parkinson continued to make threats en route to jail,” the sheriff’s office said. “He punched and kicked at Sheriff’s Office members.”
He is accused of battery on a law enforcement officer, resisting arrest and disorderly intoxication. Parkinson was in custody as of 3:30 p.m. Sunday, jail records show.
