A Miami man is accused of shooting his estranged girlfriend inside a nail salon during an argument over a new man she has been communicating with, police said.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. Friday at the salon located at 3721 Northwest Seventh Street. The woman told police that the man, 23-year-old Job Jocelyn, came to her work after several days of texting and calling her about the status of their relationship and the man she had recently begun communicating with, according to Jocelyn’s arrest report.

When Jocelyn came to her job, she told him to stop contacting her, and she said she was going to call the police if he kept it up, the report states.

The woman, who’s not named in the report, said Jocelyn asked, “Are you really calling the police” before pulling out a handgun and shooting her in the left thigh.

Witnesses say Jocelyn ran away after shooting the woman.

A colleague of the woman was giving a client a pedicure when she heard yelling and saw the victim run back to her booth bleeding from her leg.

A woman getting her nails done said she saw Jocelyn walking around in the salon, and that she saw him place the gun on the ground before picking it back up and leaving the business, according to the report. Detectives also watched security-camera footage that corroborated what the woman and the witnesses said, the report states.

The report redacted how police found Jocelyn and arrested him. When detectives interviewed him at a station, he told them, “I don’t want to talk about nothing. I just want to get up out of here,” the report states.

The woman obtained a protective order against Jocelyn in May, according to the report.

As of Tuesday, Jocelyn was being held while awaiting bond at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on charges of attempted murder, possession of a firearm while having a protective order against him, aggravated assault with a firearm and domestic battery, according to jail records.
