Davie police arrest man accused of 2024 hit-and-run involving pedestrian
A Sunrise man was arrested Wednesday more than a year after he fatally hit a pedestrian and left, according to the Davie Police Department.
His arrest stems from an Oct. 4, 2024, crash on the 2600 block of Flamingo Road in Davie, police said in the arrest affidavit.
A woman was crossing the road, and a person driving a 2014 Hyundai Tucson hit her while going about 60 mph.
The victim was Nicole Lynn Bobb, 32, according to Miami Herald news partner CBS News Miami.
She was thrown about 170 feet. Someone passing by found Bobb dead.
Davie police identified the owner of the Hyundai as 66-year-old Gregorio Puentes Fuentes, and officers tracked the car to his home.
“It was apparent that the vehicle had been involved in a crash with a pedestrian,” the affidavit said.
Cellphone data showed Fuentes was at the crash site, immediately went home and then returned in a different car within 20 minutes, the affidavit said. The document did not explain why Fuentes went back to the scene.
His call logs showed he made several calls to his sons in the immediate aftermath.
Fuentes is facing one count of leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
He was being held on a $25,000 bond Thursday night at the Broward Main Jail, jail records show.
“I am beyond happy that we can finally put closure to the end of this nightmare and the fact that we have been living with this for the past 15 months,” Jeff Bobb, Nicole’s father, told CBS News Miami.
