A man was hospitalized after being shot in Fort Lauderdale Monday morning, police said.

The shooting happened shortly before 10 a.m. in the 900 block of Northwest Seventh Avenue. Police say they believe the man was wounded during “an altercation” with a woman, who fired the shot.

Fort Lauderdale paramedics took the victim, who has not been named, to Broward General Medical Center. The extent of his injuries was not immediately available.

Police say they have the woman in custody, but did not immediately release her name.
