Miami Herald File

A Key West man hit another man in the head with a bag full of beers, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said in a Sunday news release.

David Burnell Ryan, 56, was arrested Saturday and is facing one count of aggravated battery, the release said.

The sheriff’s office responded to 15th Street in Marathon around 5 p.m. about a possible battery and found a 61-year-old victim, according to the release. He told authorities Ryan hit him in the head and forearms with three full aluminum beer bottles in a plastic bag.

Security footage corroborated the man’s story, and Ryan was found at a nearby bus stop.

“He confessed to the battery and was taken to jail,” the release said.

The man did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
