Miami woman attacked coworker, tried to fight a deputy, sheriff’s office says
A Miami woman attacked her coworker, threw a television and damaged other property at Norita Adult Family Care assisted living facility in South Dade, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies responded Tuesday morning to 11971 SW 118th St. and found a woman who appeared extremely agitated and was yelling, an arrest affidavit said.
Blanca Belinda Rivera-Lopez, 29, raised her fists and told one of the deputies to fight her, the affidavit said. She then started swinging.
A deputy stunned her with a Taser and hit her in the face before being able to arrest her.
Deputies learned that Rivera-Lopez had started fighting with her coworker, removed her shoe and hit the woman on the top of her head with it, the affidavit said. She also grabbed the woman’s glasses and smashed them in her hands, according to officers.
She destroyed two televisions and threw one out onto a driveway, the affidavit said.
Rivera-Lopez is facing charges including battery, criminal mischief, grand theft, resisting an officer without violence and two counts of assault on a first responder, court records show.
She was being held on a $6,500 bond Wednesday at the Miami-Dade Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, jail records show.
