A couple was leaving a Miami Beach nightclub early Saturday when they were attacked, leaving the man unconscious while the woman was sexually assaulted, according to police.

The woman and her fiance had left Voodoo Lounge & Rooftop, 928 Ocean Drive, when police say Alix Louis Innocent, 28, punched the man, causing him to collapse to the ground.

Innocent then grabbed the woman and told her she had witnessed “a murder,” warning that she had to accompany him if she wanted to be released, according to an arrest affidavit. He led her to a rooftop area, which detectives later discovered to be 918 Ocean Drive after reviewing CCTV footage.

Once at the building’s rooftop, Innocent told the woman he would shoot and kill her if she did not engage in oral sex and intercourse with him, police say. The woman told investigators that she complied with Innocent’s commands as she feared for her life but as she was forced to perform oral sex on him, she managed to escape.

She was found by police soon after on the 900 block of Ocean Court. Miami Beach police crime scene personnel photographed scratches on her and took a DNA swab of her mouth. The woman was also taken to Roxcy Bolton Rape Treatment Center.

Police said they found CCTV footage that captured the attacker taking her to the rooftop and her running away a short time later, looking distraught and disheveled.

The following day, patrol officers spotted a man near Sixth Street and Collins Court who matched the man shown in CCTV images from the assaults and identified him as Innocent.

A records check showed that Innocent had a warrant for knowingly driving with a suspended license.

At the time of his arrest, Innocent was carrying a black backpack and was wearing a black V-neck T-shirt and a silver watch — items consistent with what was seen in the surveillance footage, police say.

Officers found Innocent to be carrying approximately 14 grams of suspected mushrooms and about 12 grams of marijuana, according to his arrest report.

Instagram stories as evidence

Police reviewed social media content from Innocent’s Instagram account and found several stories posted the day after the assaults, according to his arrest paperwork.

One story showed Innocent saying that someone tried to rob him “yesterday.” He then made a punching motion, imitated snoring and continued by saying that the victim’s girlfriend thought he was dead. Investigators noted the woman stated that she believed her fiance was dead after he was punched by Innocent.

Another story showed Innocent talking while appearing to walk along Ocean Drive. In a subsequent video, he was heard saying, “That’s that [expletive]’s blood, man,” while recording what appeared to be a dried blood stain on the sidewalk. The words “His blood from 2 nights ago” appeared on the screen in white lettering.

During a police interview, Innocent told detectives that he punched the man but claimed he was acting in self-defense after the man took his backpack. He also admitted that he went to the rooftop with the woman, according to his arrest report.

Innocent showed detectives several videos stored on his phone that depicted his interactions with the victim on the 900 block of Ocean Drive prior to striking the man in the face, according to police.

During the interview, he initially denied having any sexual contact with the woman but later said she had performed a consensual sex act in an elevator. He continued to deny that any sexual activity occurred on the rooftop.

Innocent was charged with armed sexual battery and kidnapping. Court records show that Innocent remains jailed at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Wednesday.

Records show he has pleaded not guilty. He is set to be arraigned on Feb. 2.
