Fight between 2 teens ends with one shot near Plantation High, police said

A fight between two teenagers resulted in one of them wounded by gunfire Monday afternoon near Plantation High School, police said.

The shooting happened around 3 p.m. near Northwest 70th Avenue and 16th Street, according to police. The high school is at 6901 NW 16th St.

The department said in a statement posted on X that the teen who was shot was taken to a hospital with “non-life-threatening injuries.”

Police stressed that the incident did not happen on Plantation High School grounds and did not happen while school was in session.

The shooting is under investigation.

Police locked down Plantation Middle School, but that precaution was lifted around 3:40 p.m.
