Shooting suspect cooperating after man is killed in Broward, cops say

A man was killed after he was shot in a Broward neighborhood on Sunday night, police say.

Shortly before 7:45 p.m., officers located Darrell Rice, 37, with gunshot wounds in the 2300 block of Northwest Sixth Street in Fort Lauderdale, according to police. Rice was taken to Broward Health Medical Center with life-threatening injuries but died in the hospital.

The person who shot Rice remained on the scene and has been cooperating with detectives. Police say the shooting is being investigated as a “Stand Your Ground” case.
