18-year-old shot in Miami-Dade. Shooter still on the loose, Sheriff’s Office says

An investigation is underway after a teenager was shot Monday evening in a Northwest Miami-Dade neighborhood, according to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies from the Northside District arrived to the area of Northwest 50th Street and 22nd Avenue shortly before 8 p.m. after getting reports of multiple gunshots.

There, they found an 18-year-old on the ground with gunshot wounds to “the upper extremities,” deputies say. Miami-Dade Fire Rescue crews treated him at the scene and took him to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center, where he was listed in stable condition.

Investigators believe a person or group opened fire in the area, striking the teen before fleeing . No description of the shooter or shooters was immediately available.

Detectives with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office General Investigations Unit have taken over the case.
