Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives arrested a man Sunday who they say shot and killed another man in Deerfield Beach earlier in the day.

Jarvis Chinn, 32, is in county jail without bond on one count of first-degree murder with a firearm. Detectives say he shot 33-year-old Leotis James Breedlove Jr., several times around 10:20 a.m. near the 200 block of Northwest Second Way.

Broward Sheriff’s Office Fire Rescue paramedics found Breedlove lying outside a house with several gunshot wounds and took him to Broward Health North, where he died, said Clauddine Caro, a BSO spokeswoman.

Chinn left the area immediately after the shooting, but homicide detectives tracked him down to the 200 block of Northwest 30th Avenue in Pompano Beach, where they arrested him later in the day, Caro said.

Information about his legal representation was not immediately available.
