Pembroke Pines music teacher accused of illegal sexual conduct with student
The owner of a Pembroke Pines music school is accused of having a sexual relationship with one of his teenage students over a two-year period, police say.
The girl is now 15, and police say her 30-year-old teacher, the owner of Music Legacies, began abusing her in 2023.
Rakesh Jhaveri was arrested Monday on 10 counts of lewd and lascivious battery on a victim between the ages of 12 and 16 years old.
“While the girl was supposed to be receiving private music lessons at Music Legacies, Jhaveri engaged in illegal sexual conduct on numerous occasions,” Pembroke Pines police spokesman Sgt. Jason Palant said in a statement.
Police are asking any other students at the school and parents of students who may also be victims to contact Detective Nicole Ratliff at 954-743-1639 or nratliff@ppines.com.
A judge set Jhaveri’s bond at $100,000. It was not clear Thursday if he was in jail. His name did not appear in an online Broward Sheriff’s Office inmate search. His attorney did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
