BSO deputies looking for woman accused in transit bus attack
Broward Sheriff’s Office detectives are asking the public’s help in locating a woman caught on security camera attacking another woman on a county bus last month.
The incident happened the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 21, near Lauderdale Lakes. The 70-year-old victim was seated in the Americans with Disabilities section, and the other woman was standing near her and continued to purposely bump her, according to the sheriff’s office.
The two argued, and the woman standing grabbed a reusable grocery bag and hit the other woman in the face with it, the security camera footage shows. The woman sitting used her cane to defend herself, the sheriff’s office said.
The other woman then began to punch the seated woman repeatedly. Bus passengers intervened and the bus driver pulled over in the 4100 block of West Oakland Park Boulevard.
The attacking woman and a woman with her got off the bus and ran away, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office is asking anyone with information about the woman involved in the attack to call Violent Crimes Unit Detective Andres Lopez at 954-321-4915.
People wanting to submit an anonymous tip can contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
