Paramedics rush man to hospital after shooting in Miami Gardens, police say

A man was shot and critically wounded in Miami Gardens on Tuesday afternoon, police say.

Around 1:30 p.m., police responding to the scene at the 2400 block of Northwest 167th Street found the man with a gunshot wound to the chest, said Officer Diana Delgado, a Miami Gardens police spokeswoman.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue added its paramedics airlifted the man, who has not been named, to Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital.

Delgado said witnesses told detectives that they saw several people drive away from the scene.

The shooting is under investigation.
