Key West police and U.S. Marshals say they captured a man in the Southernmost City Wednesday who is wanted on a child sex crime in Texas.

Collin County, Texas, officials issued a warrant for 47-year-old Philip Patrick Owens on a charge of solicitation of a minor under 14-years-old, said Key West police spokeswoman Alyson Crean.

The U.S. Marshals Service tracked him down to Key West, and city police and federal agents canvassed the island Wednesday and found him on Smathers Beach, Crean said.

He was arrested without any issues, but officers found him carrying cocaine and methamphetamine, adding to his felony legal woes, Crean said.

He was booked into Monroe County jail and will be transferred to Texas, Crean added.
