A person picking up trash Monday morning from a Florida Keys beach found what authorities suspect is a brick of cocaine, the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office said.

The package, found around 8 a.m. on the ocean side of mile marker 91 in the Upper Keys area of Tavernier, weighed about 1 kilogram, according to the sheriff’s office.

As in all drug finds in the Keys, which are fairly common, the contraband was handed over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
