Person shot near Hollywood Beach, police say. One detained

Paramedics took a person to the hospital who was shot near Hollywood Beach on Thursday afternoon, police said.

The shooting happened at 3725 South Ocean Drive around 3:40 p.m., according to police.

The victim, who has not been identified, was conscious when officers arrived and is in stable condition at Memorial Regional Hospital, said Deanna Bettinischi, spokeswoman for the Hollywood Police Department.

One person was detained, Bettinishi said, adding the investigation into the shooting is ongoing.
