A dog attack in the wee hours of Sunday morning left a man dead in Liberty City, Miami police said.

Police said when officers arrived to 812 NW 67th St. around 12:53 a.m., they found a deceased 30 to 40-year old man. His identity hasn’t been released by Miami police.

A neighbor who didn’t want to be identified told a Herald journalist that “multiple” pit bulls are kept on the property — and the dogs have bitten kids who attend the Thena Crowder Early Childhood & Diagnostic Center. The special education school occupies the next block east from 812 NW 67th St., approximately 200 yards from the house.

County property records show the three-bedroom, one-bathroom house, was last sold in 2006 and is owned by the estate of Marie Gedeus. A 4-foot to 5-foot high chain link fence was added to the property in 2017; an aluminum modular fence was built in 2023.

This marks the second deadly dog attack in Miami-Dade in just over a month. In Miami Gardens, Doreen Richards Broadbelt, 71, was mauled to death by dogs while walking to work on Labor Day.
