Coral Gable police arrested a man Thursday who the agency says hit one of its officers a week earlier with his motorcycle during an attempted traffic stop.

On Friday, Sept. 26, a Coral Gables officer, also on a motorcycle, tried to pull over Jose Rafael Badillo around 3:20 p.m. When the officer was along side of Badillo, “he intentionally swerved into the officer, causing serious but non-life-threatening injuries,” the department said in a statement.

Badillo, 31, drove off without rendering aid or reporting the injured officer, police said.

On Thursday, Coral Gables Traffic Homicide officers arrested Badillo. The department didn not release details of the arrest.

On Friday, he was being held in Turner Guilford Correctional Center on a bond of $9,252 on charges including aggravated battery on a law enforcement officer, fleeing and eluding police, reckless driving and driving with a suspended license, according to jail records.
