A man who was burglarizing a North Lauderdale apartment was shot Wednesday night, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies arrived at the building in the 7900 block of Kimberly Boulevard around 9 p.m. after receiving reports of a residential burglary and a possible shooting, the sheriff’s office said.

They found a man, who has not been named as of Thursday morning, wounded with a gun shot, BSO said.

North Lauderdale Fire Rescue paramedics took him to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injures.

The sheriff’s office said its preliminary investigation shows the shooting “was related to a residential burglary.”

Deputies arrested him on burglary charges, the sheriff’s office said, adding detectives are still investigating the circumstances of the shooting.

BSO has not released the identity of the person who shot the man.
