A man stabbed his wife as they were traveling in a car in a Hialeah neighborhood on Tuesday evening, according to police.

The couple was having a “verbal dispute” when Jorge Diaz, 70, stabbed his wife, whom police are not identifying, causing their car to crash near West 53rd Street and 12th Avenue around 7 p.m, police say. Diaz then turned the knife on himself.

The pair was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital for treatment. Police have not provided updates on either condition, but say that once Diaz is released from the hospital he will be charged with second-degree attempted murder.
