Puerto Rican singer and rapper Jhayco was jailed early Tuesday in Miami-Dade County on drug charges after deputies say he was driving a red Corvette extremely slowly along Southwest Eighth Street near West Miami before coming to a complete stop.

Jhayco, whose real name is Jesús Manuel Nieves Cortés and who lives in Pembroke Pines, was booked into the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center around 4:25 a.m.

A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s deputy following the Corvette and saw it traveling about 5 mph before stopping, according to Jhayco’s arrest affidavit.

When the deputy approached the car, a strong odor of cannabis wafted from inside. The “DÁKITI” singer appeared to have a “white powder” on his pants and nose, the deputy wrote.

When asked for his driver’s license, Jhayco fumbled through his wallet and cell phone before giving his name and date of birth, but no license was found under that name, according to the affidavit. After another deputy arrived, he was detained.

A narcotics search of the vehicle revealed two black pouches containing about 14 grams of suspected cannabis. Deputies also reported finding approximately 2 grams of suspected cocaine — split between his right watch pocket and left pocket.

Jhayco, 32, has been charged with possession of cocaine and possession of 20 grams or less of cannabis. His bond was set at $3,000.
