Teen shot hanging out with friends in Fort Lauderdale. Can you identify suspects?
A college student was critically injured after he and a group of friends were shot at in Fort Lauderdale last month. Police on Wednesday released video of the moments leading up to the gunfire — and have asked the public for help in identifying the alleged assailants.
The shooting happened around 1:30 a.m. June 22 when three men approached a group of friends hanging out in a parking garage in the 200 block of Las Olas Circle, police say. The wounded — 19-year-olds Richard Murray and Janacia Davis, , and 18-year-old Aamori McGann — were taken to Broward Health Medical Center.

The friends gathered to say goodbye to an Army soldier friend who was scheduled to deploy on an assignment. Right before the attack, Murray and his friends were listening to music and looking over Las Olas, Thompson said.
“While the investigation remains ongoing, detectives have exhausted all current leads and are turning to the public for help in identifying the suspects,” Fort Lauderdale police said in a news release.
The Uvalde Foundation For Kids, a nonprofit established after the 2022 Robb Elementary School shooting in Uvalde, Texas, is offering a $2,000 reward for information that leads to the arrest of the people responsible for the shooting, the group announced Friday morning.
“Our hearts go out to Richard Murray, Janacia Davis, Aamori McGann, and their families during this incredibly difficult time,” said Daniel Chapin, the founder and president of the nonprofit. “This senseless act of violence against young people, especially a college student with such a bright future, is unacceptable and deeply disturbing. We are committed to supporting efforts to bring those responsible to justice and help ensure that our youth can pursue their dreams without fear.”
The released footage, captured from the parking garage’s surveillance camera, shows three men — who police say were involved in the shooting — walking toward the group. Two of them were wearing black masks. The men were later seen hopping into a black sedan before speeding off. Days later, police said detectives located the car involved in the shooting.
