Mail carrier stabbed after Biscayne Park road rage devolves into chaos, cops say
A routine route for a mail courier last week in Biscayne Park ended with a chaotic, bloody scene when road rage escalated into the 60-year-old man being stabbed in the chest. The alleged assailant was arrested by Biscayne Park Police on Monday.
During the afternoon of July 21, the unidentified mailman was driving down his delivery routes along Northeast 10 Avenue when he made a right turn, inadvertently going into the path of Valentino Jlil on his electric scooter, an arrest report read.
Jlil, 27, became enraged and tried to confront the mailman in his truck, flailing his hands, yelling curses and pointing his phone at him. The mailman continued on his route when he noticed Jlil had placed himself in front of the mail truck.
The mailman approached Jlil who “aggressively touched him in his chest,” the report read. This sparked a scuffle wher the mailman grabbed Jlil and wrestled him to the ground.
After they separated, the mailman noticed he had been stabbed in the chest. The man was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital to be treated, while Jlil was cared for by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue for a cut on his finger.
It’s unclear why Jlil was arrested for the stabbing a few days after the incident. Jlil is facing an aggravated battery with a deadly weapon against the elderly and using a weapon while committing a felony. As of Tuesday, he still remained in the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
