Police-involved shooting in Wilton Manors leads to street closures

Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting in a Wilton Manors neighborhood that happened early Wednesday morning.

Gunfire rang out around 5:20 a.m. near 25 NE 26th St., the address of a home, a police scanner reported.

No other details have been released, including any possible injuries, deaths, or what led to the shooting.

Wilton Manors detective Haley Plante said the intersection of Northeast 26th Street and North Andrews Avenue will be closed for some time, although the area is secure.

She did not have any additional details, other than noting that Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating, as it does with all police-involved shootings. Wilton Manors Police is also working with the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
