Miami-Dade authorities are looking into a double stabbing Monday morning that left one dead and one injured on Bird Road.

Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a fight involving three men around 10:35 a.m. to find two individuals were stabbed near a TD Bank parking lot at Southwest 112th Ave, between Olympia Heights and Westwood Lakes. Those hurt were taken to a nearby trauma center by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue — one in stable condition, the other critical — where the latter died of his injuries.

“[Reports] don’t specify,” MDSO spokesperson Officer Angel Rodriguez said of where the victims were treated. “I can only speculate that they were probably transported to HCA Florida Kendall, because that is the closest hospital.”

Both the parking lot on 112th Avenue and a bus stop on Bird Road and Southwest 107th Ave. have been taped off in connection with the case.

It’s unclear where the suspect is being detained by deputies. His identity won’t be released until an investigation is completed.

The man, who’s in stable condition and still at the trauma center, will likely be questioned upon his release, says Rodriguez, but he’s not being considered a suspect at the moment.

As for the victim who died, his name won’t be shared until deputies confirm his identity and notify family members of his death.

“Detectives detained an individual and our investigators are in the process of speaking to the individual to determine his involvement,” Rodriguez said.
