Suspect and victim dead after Brickell hotel stabbing, Miami police say

A man was found in Sunday’s first hours stabbed to death in a Brickell area high rise, Miami police said.

Officers found the man around 2:16 a.m. on the 34th floor of the Icon Residences by SS Vacation Rentals, at 485 Brickell Ave.

Witnesses and surveillance footage said the suspect had escaped into a building that was under construction next door. Hours later, after a search aided by drones and SWAT teams, police said that’s where they found the suspect, already deceased.

Identities haven’t been released yet.

“I want to assure the community that we are thoroughly investigating this tragic incident,” Miami Police Chief Manny Morales said in a statement. “Our thoughts are with the victim’s loved ones during this difficult time. We are also working to understand the circumstances surrounding the suspect’s death.”

Anyone with more information on this can reach out to Crime Stoppers of Miami-Dade & the Florida Keys, either online or at 305-471-8477 (TIPS).
