Teenager accused of murdering a man in a Florida City home, deputies say
A 19-year-old is behind bars after deputies say he shot and killed a man after an argument in a Florida City neighborhood last month.
On May 24, Florida City Police officers arrived at a home on 1445 NW Second Court and found Christopher Shannon Allen, 54, with multiple gunshot wounds. Allen was taken to Jackson South Medical Center, where he died, police said.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, which took over the murder investigation, says the alleged shooter is Jaylen Lavar Fisher, identified from witnesses’ statements that said he was at the scene with a gun, according to his arrest affidavit. His arrest report lists his address as Florida City.
Investigators say Fisher and Allen were in a “verbal dispute” that escalated when Fisher pulled out a gun and shot at Allen multiple times. It is unclear what they were arguing about.
Seven 40-caliber casings were found at the scene, deputies say. They did not indicate whether the casings were from Fisher’s gun.
Detectives found Fisher on Monday and took him to the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office Homicide Bureau for an interview, but he chose to remain silent.
Fisher is charged with second-degree murder with a firearm. He remained jailed at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center as of Wednesday morning.
