Man threatened a teen over her nude photos, Broward detectives say
A Broward County man is behind bars after threatening a 14-year-old girl for nude photos, according to the sheriff’s office.
In December, BSO’s Internet Crimes Against Children detectives got a tip about a man who was soliciting nude photos from the teen and extorting her on social media.
The man, identified as a 20-year-old Ygremerley Junior Murat of North Lauderdale, was commenting on the teen’s social media posts and complimenting her, authorities say.
He eventually asked her for nude photos, and she complied, detective said. But they say Murat began threatening her in direct messages, demanding more nude photos.
Murat threatened to post her photos on social media if she didn’t do what he asked, authorities said. At this point, she stopped talking to him and told her mother what was happening.
On Tuesday morning, detectives served a warrant at Murat’s home and found several videos of underage girls in sexual acts. Detectives say that Murat confessed and was arrested on charges of extortion and solicitation of a child using a computer or device.
Jail records show that Murat was in the Main Jail as of Wednesday morning.
BSO detectives say they are concerned that there may be more victims. Anyone with information or who believes they may know someone who is a victim should contact Detective Rolando Abreu at 954-595-0869
