All six people wounded in the Thursday shooting on Florida State University’s campus are in stable condition and expected to make a full recovery, according to a team of surgeons at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare.

Dr. Brett Howard, a trauma surgeon at Tallahassee Memorial HealthCare, said all six patients had received gunshot wounds. Between the six patients, there were gunshots to the torso, face and other extremities, Howard said.

Two of the treated patients may be discharged from hospital care on Friday, Howard said. Three patients were operated on.

Howard said one patient is in “fair” condition because of some concerns related to the “seriousness” of their injuries, but Howard declined to provide specific details.

Police said that the gunman was taken to the hospital for treatment after being shot by officers, but the hospital surgeons declined to comment specifically on the gunman’s injuries and would not confirm that he was a patient.

Howard said the hospital was informed of a situation on FSU’s campus shortly before noon and began to prepare for patients. The situation was under control within an hour, he said.

Two people, neither of them students, were killed in the shooting Thursday. Police have said the suspect was among those counted as wounded.
