A Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office deputy shot a man to death Sunday night after responding to a domestic dispute in Southwest Miami-Dade, officials said.

Deputies received a call shortly before 6:30 p.m. Sunday from a woman in an altercation with her armed husband, 31-year-old Kelly Allen Hudson, near Southwest 130th Avenue and 132nd Terrace, according to the sheriff’s office.

A struggle was heard during the call. When a deputy arrived, Hudson was brandishing a firearm. A deputy fired at Hudson.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue took him to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead, the sheriff’s office said.

The deputy was not injured during the incident and Hudson’s gun was recovered.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement is investigating, as it does with all shootings involving a law-enforcement officer.
