Man sets house on fire, kills self in Miami

A man killed himself during a standoff with police and fire rescue at a burning home near Allapattah on Friday morning.

Police descended on four blocks near Northwest 24th Avenue and 42nd Street after receiving a tip that the man was threatening suicide.

The man had set the house on fire and barricaded himself inside.

Officers heard shots fired and then began seeing the smoke coming out of the house.

Sometime around 9:30 a.m. authorities discovered his body with a gunshot wound on the rear patio of the house.

Authorities have not released the dead man’s identity.
