A Miami husband and wife have been charged with raping a 13-year-old girl they met at church, police say.

They were arrested Wednesday in Lehigh Acres near Fort Myers, where police said they fled.

On Nov. 9, a 14-year-old girl and her parents reported the alleged incidents to Miami police, who referred them to the Special Victims Unit for a formal interview.

The teen told police that she met Edwin Erasmo Vasquez Vasquez, 50, and Yulian Jaqueline Garcia Castro, 39, at church, according to their arrest warrants. The church name was redacted in the filing.

In July 2023, the then 13-year-old girl slept over at Vasquez and Castro’s home at 4035 NW 13th Ave., Miami police say. The girl told police the couple had a “big bed” that they shared with their two children, who were 7 and 9. Castro told the teen to sleep next to her husband, who then molested her, according to police.

Another time, police say that while Vasquez and Castro were driving the girl home, Castro told Vasquez to get in the back seat with the girl, where he tried to have sex with her.

Other incidents took place around Christmas 2023.

The girl told police these were her first sexual interactions and that she was afraid to tell anyone. Castro told the girl in Spanish: “In front of God’s eye, you can’t say anything about [Vasquez] penetrating you,” the arrest warrant states.

The couple has charged with multiple counts of sexual battery, lewd and lascivious molestation and lewd and lascivious conduct.
