A teen girl was found dead in a home yard, and her boyfriend is in jail: Miami-Dade cops
A 17-year-old girl was found dead in the backyard of a Northeast Miami-Dade home on Monday night, and her 20-year-old boyfriend is accused of choking her to death, authorities say.
Miami-Dade deputies responded to a call around 9:10 p.m. about an unconscious girl at 10745 NE Second Ave. near Miami Shores. At the house, they spoke with two people: 20-year-old Dominique Domond and a woman identified in his arrest affidavit as Ms. Domond. Miami-Dade property records show the house is owned by Marie Domond.
Deputies say Dominique Domond led them to the body of 17-year-old Jansie Barthold, who was pronounced dead by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue at 9:25 p.m.
According to the person identified as Ms. Domond, Dominique Domond and Barthold had been arguing when he pushed her out of the house through the back door. Police say Domond claimed he had been attacked by an “unknown male” and Barthold, prompting him to push her outside to defend himself.
Domond was taken to the Miami-Dade Homicide Bureau, where he spoke with detectives. Investigators say he gave inconsistent and conflicting statements before eventually admitting that he and Barthold had been fighting and that he choked her to death.
“The defendant then picked up the victim’s lifeless body and disposed of it by throwing it in the rear yard of the residence,” detectives wrote in the arrest affidavit.
Dominique Domond has been charged with second-degree murder. Jail records show he is being held at Turner Guilford Correctional Center, with his bond status still “to be set” as of Wednesday morning.
