Man shot in neck after shooting on I-95 southbound near Fort Lauderdale, reports say

A man was shot in the neck on Interstate 95 near Fort Lauderdale on Sunday evening, according to reports.

The man was transported to a nearby hospital with a gunshot wound to the neck, Miami Herald news partner CBS News Miami reported. The incident occurred shortly after 6:15 p.m., according to Florida 511.

Heavy traffic followed, with all lanes near the Cypress Creek Road and Oakland Park Boulevard exits closed. Live camera footage shows several police vehicles on the congested highway.

Total Traffic Miami reported that Florida Highway Patrol and other police agencies responded to the shooting. The Miami Herald reached out to FHP and Broward Sheriff’s Office for more information.

Fort Lauderdale police are assisting on the scene.
