A man has died after being found shot in a car early Friday in Hollywood, according to police.

A 911 call about a stopped car in the middle of a Hollywood street early Friday turned into a homicide investigation after police found a shot man inside.

Officers responded around 1:40 a.m. to reports of the car near the 2200 block of Douglas Street.

Inside, they found the wounded man. He was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital by Hollywood Fire Rescue, said Officer Christian Lata, a spokesman for Hollywood police.

He died at the hospital, police say.

Hollywood police have confirmed they are investigating the incident as a homicide.
