Man shot dead in what police believe is a drive-by outside Fort Lauderdale warehouse
A man was shot dead outside a Fort Lauderdale warehouse facility Thursday morning, police say.
Around 11:20 a.m., Fort Lauderdale officers arrived at the 1600 block of SW 3rd Avenue after receiving reports of a shooting, said department spokeswoman Casey Liening.
They found a man with gunshot wounds who Liening said was pronounced dead at the scene.
“Preliminary information indicates this was a drive by shooting,” Liening said in a statement. “This is an ongoing investigation and information is subject to change pending further investigation.”
On Tuesday, Fort Lauderdale police identified the man as 44-year-old Gregory Bradford from Sunrise.
A witness who saw the immediate aftermath of the shooting and who is familiar with the warehouse facility, said the victim is a Bahamian who rents a bay there and owns an import/export business.
The witness, who did not want to be named, said he heard what sounded like fireworks.
“I ran out on the street and saw the car speeding away,” he said.
He noted the car was an older model, faded, maroon Hyundai sedan.
