Somebody shot into a crowd of teens at a downtown Fort Lauderdale club. 14-year-old hit

A 14-year-old was hospitalized after somebody shot into a large crowd in downtown Fort Lauderdale early Thursday, according to police.

Around 1:30 a.m., a club in the area of the 200 block of Southwest Third Avenue was hosting a large crowd of teenagers when someone within the crowd suddenly fired a gun, striking a 14-year-old, according to Detective Ali Adamson, a spokeswoman for Fort Lauderdale Police Department.

The teen was taken to Broward Health Medical Center by Fort Lauderdale Fire Rescue with non-life-threatening injuries, according to Adamson.

Police say the investigation remains ongoing. No arrests have been made yet.

The Fort Lauderdale Police Department encourages anyone with information about the suspect or the incident to contact police immediately.
